Outbound Network requires 'Allow ALL' to make shares available form outside local lan

Need additional information

Description

On my TrueNas Scale system, I tried to share SMB and iSCSI with another local vlan. That did not work. The reason turned was that the Network Global Setting Outbound Network was set to limit network access to certain functionality only.

However ….. in the ‘Outbound Network’ options, there are no options related to ‘The Sharing Functionality’, which is strange! The more since there is no working option in e.g. SMB-shares advanced to define an allowed range (which should have consequences for the firewall / ‘Outbound Network allowance’.

Under SMB-advanced there is are fields for ‘Host Allow’ and ‘Host Deny’ but …. they can not be edited ??

I just noticed that changing SMB purpose to ‘No presets’ makes host allow editable. I do not know yet if that solves the problem. I will test.

I general, IMHO configuring SMB is far to complex! Presents build in the GUI, with good intention, only confuse me enormously !! Just as the SMB and even more file-system ACL’s (does file system ACL’s belong here !!?? And should not only the owner of the files be allowed to define a share related to those files !!??

Edit:

I did test SMB with a vlan defined in ‘host Access’ and limited access via Outbound network settings. So in the end it works, but the GUI is rather confusing IMHO.
