This seems outside of the scope of NAS. There are applications dedicated for that kind of thing. FreeNAS can report to them using SNMP.

Alright, that is understandable, though I would still like E-Mail alerting for CPU temperatures below the critical high temperature so I can take evasive action such as increasing the cooling capacity in the server rack on a warm day. The E-Mail alerts service is nice but would be really nice if I could get a daily "Thermal Summary" showing the high and low temperature peaks of the CPU's and SDA.

We appreciate the report but we dont feel like this is worth the effort on our side.
Any contributions will be welcome.
Auto Shutdown based on CPU temperature would probably cause more harm than good (modern processors will automatically hard shutdown if CPU reaches high temperatures).
FreeNAS currently has CPU Temperature monitoring but does not have ability to send E-Mail alerts if the CPU Temperature hit's a certain threshold. In addition there is no easy way to set up an emergency shutdown should the CPU's hit a critical threshold temperature.
