It has come to my attention that FreeNas does not allow GPU passthrough to VMs
(I wish i knew this beforehand)
After some looking around the internet, GPU passthrough appears to be something that is wanted in the freenas community as many people have been forced to run dual servers, one for NAS and one for VMs.
I fail to see why I Just cant have it all in the one box. The current VM feautre built into freenas is quite good in my opinion but it would really benefit from allowing GPU passthrough to VMs. This would allow for workstation VMs to be created resulting in Freenas becomming more then just a great NAS solution and plug in Plex server.
Examples like proxmox and exsi are a good starting point.
The point of this request is to explain my current situation which is common across the freenas community (in my research) which is, Do I ditch freenas for an all in one solution or build another server just for VMs??
Honestly just seems like a pain in the ass to have another system running when i have one that is already quite capible of doing what I want (in my situation)
