FreeNAS 11.2 u5
NFS stopped working for Windows (win 10)
Same user account working via OS X
originally believed to be a Windows issue.
Problem:
Unable to write to FreeNAS from Windows
Attempts to write data denied.
FreeNAS reply:
A file with that name already exists
Even with empty directories.
User account working / able to read & write via OS X
Researched extensively - found the issue several times over the last decade, user OS as always Windows...
1. Solution
Reinstall Windows (win 7)
expectation: NFS would be immediately fixed
NOPE! same error.
2. Solution
Tried to use SMB instead.
Unable to start SMB
FreeNAS error: 'unable to start service'
Tried to fix any SMB resource permissions
700 I believe ... using SSH,
BY MEMORY ... I believe it was
/var/db/samba4 msg.sock
...still didn't fix it.
3a. Solution
Forum-member informed me that u6 was out and suggested I update...
I was also unable to update FreeNAS
Feeling kinda ridiculous at this point .. !
3b. Solution
unable to ping domain names
able to ping IP addresses...
added local router IP to:
messages.3.bz2
Allowed the TEMPORARY resolving of DNS and subsequently, to update to u6
3a. Solution (back to it)
SMB is still unable to start .
NFS is still unable to read or write ....... from Windows. OS X = still working.
There's several people right now whom all have similar (if not identical) issues.
Thanks in advance!
