Glad you figured it out.

More info:
I've been using an HTTP proxy. Today I decided to experiment with a SOCKS proxy – something I've never used before.
Superficial testing tells me that the SOCKS proxy will allow me to do the remote web work I need with FreeNAS.

A lot of us are working from home nowadays. At my work our servers (like FreeNAS systems) are isolated from the Internet but systems with web interfaces are acessable via SSH tunnel to an internal proxy server.
It seems that FreeNAS uses a form of websockets that don't traverse proxy servers. This makes working at home more difficult. My work doesn't have a VPN and other options, while doable, are awkward and slow. Formerly FreeNAS worked through proxy servers and it'd be good if that functionality were restored.
