Your system dataset must be moved to freenas-boot pool if you wish to create a passphrase for a single pool, and no other pools are present on the system to store the system dataset. For info on how to do this please see our user guide.

After creating an encrypted pool, accessing the encryption operations menu for the pool, it only shows "Recovery Key" and "Reset Keys". This persists with reboots of the entire system. If a second, encrypted pool is created, the Encryption Key option is present and available for that second pool. It still is missing from the first pool. If the first pool is deleted, the second pool encryption operations menu will then only show the two options listed above (Recovery Key and Reset Keys). Due to this missing, a passphrase cannot be assigned to the first pool created, if desired.
