GELI unlock very slow

Description

I'm finding with TrueNAS 12.0 that the action to unlock a GELI pool is very slow. I navigate to Storage->Pools->Gear Icon->Unlock. With FreeNAS < 12, this would pop up a dialog box to enter my encryption passphrase almost instantaneously. With TrueNAS 12, the UI does nothing until my credentials time out. Then I have refresh the page, log back in, and click the unlock link again. Sometimes it takes multiple cycles of this for the unlock dialog to finally appear.

Once the unlock dialog finally renders, the rest of the unlock process proceeds just as quickly as it used to.

I've noted in https://ixsystems.atlassian.net/browse/NAS-107557#icft=NAS-107557 that there's a grub-bhyve process initiated at startup, before I've unlocked my pool. This process appears to be busy polling and pegging a CPU core in the process. I think it's busy polling a file in the yet-to-be-mounted pool. Anyway, I discovered if I kill that process, the unlock dialog comes back almost instantaneously. I'm running an E3-1231 v3 with eight hardware threads. Seven threads were completely idle, so I don't know why one busy process was so problematic. I'd say it's all coincidental, but I've reproduced the faster unlock dialog by going through multiple reboots.

The issue is still present with TrueNAS 12.0-U1. Although I think the delay may not be as slow as it was with TrueNAS 12.0.

Hopefully this includes what you need. When I tried creating the debug log right after unlocking the pool, I got an error message saying the debug file couldn't be generated.
