Yeah, for me the disks get sync'd every five seconds, even on a system I built that's primarily a backup replication target. I've always assumed it was the collectd database being persisted to disk, been happening since FreeNAS Corral at least and probably earlier.

Thank you for following up I think it would be best to separate these three issues into separate tickets as it would be different teams/engineers who handle different areas of the software. I think you have given enough data that for issues 2 and 3 that if you could file separate tickets for those I could assign them now and we could continue to investigate the activity in this ticket.
Before you change anything else can you apply 12.0-U1.1? This new release disables asynchronous copy on write which is known to cause corruption for a very small amount of virtualization workloads. It would be good to see if this has any impact for you.
I also notice from the debug that plugins, and vms are used on this pool. The system itself appears to have 8GB of memory which is just enough for TrueNAS, ZFS will use up to half that memory for caching. If you were to shut down all of the VMs, plugins do you still see the disk usage? Finally do you have a remote graphite server configured under System -> Reporting?

Hello Joe, thanks for reply.
Q1. System Dataset Pool was switched back from usb boot-pool to hdd Dataset pool, then repeatedly tremendous hdd access noises came back AT EXACTLY EVERY 10 SECONDS even ALL nas services were turned OFF. To avoid hearing such noises and quite worrying disk wear, the machine (in which TrueNAS Core 12.0-U1 installed) had been powered OFF for a few days, until further reasonable solution to be found (if any). I really wonder why this system has so frequent hdd writes, and for what purposes? (see Fig. 1 a-c)
Q2. HP ProLiant MicroServer Gen7 was branded product (https://n40l.fandom.com/wiki/HP_MicroServer_N40L_Wiki) which SATA adapter should not be too inferior in compatibility? I ran OpenMediaVault 4 on it (before trying TNcore) without any S.M.A.R.T. problem. The second same model machine running XPEnology is well and no issue. That said they are only not compatible with TrueNAS Core now. (see Fig. 2 a-e) Could I have the compatibility list from TNcore to see?
Q3. Although Export Recycle Bin had been checked and there were .recycle folders elsewhere, but NOTHING stored in them after deleting files! (see Fig. 3)
Previously I had uploaded a debug file as per Bonnie request, are there any findings yet? I do think that there are bugs to be addressed before TrueNAS Core could be put into production to replace OMV etc. Also based on OpenZFS, FreeNAS 11.3-U5 or XigmaNAS 12.1.0.4.7894 may be worth trying later, if these issues not settled here.

If under NO file access conditions :
Is that alright for HDDs continuously Read/Write at every 10 second intervals ? While when using OpenMediaVault before, Hdds SLEEP most of the time.
Really doubt of Wear & Tear on this behaviour !
Btw, HDDs cannot perform the SMART tests (short/long, etc.) by TrueNAS-Core system. But it could be easily done when in OpenMediaVault time.
