Corrupt display of Windows shares

Description

Hi, I upgrade to TrueNAS-12.0-U2.1. Some time later I tried to view my Windows Shares but the presentation was corrupted. I have 5 shares as was indicated by the number of lines in the table but all text was writen to the first line. All other lines where empty.

I fixed the issue by clearing "site data" in the browser and refreshed the page and everything was fine.

This to me looks like the same typ of problem that I have encountered a few/many times. Perhaps it is due to may workflow that I trigger this class of errors more often than others.

I believe that this is/could be connected to closed issues NAS-104277 " Left panel unresponsive" and " Release note suggestion".

This is still a bug to my mind so to fix this perhaps it is possible for the installation script to invalidate the browser site data cash and this way remove this class of bugs.

 Clear steps for reproduction will be the best. And the error logs in console tab of the browser inspect window will be useful too.

Hi, I understand.

I will not be able to reproduce the problem right now but am quite sure that a similar problem will occur after the next update of Freenas/Truenas if I perform it in a similar way. Is there any steps that I can take before update and perhaps after update that could possibly catch the error?

Hi, I will try. However I do not have a system setup so that I can try to reproduce my self however:

  • My client is a Fedora 33 fully upgraded. Kept updated every day

  • My browser at the time must have been Firefox version 85. 86 got installed yesterday/today midnight.

  • When the error occurred I had woken up my client from suspend. No "clean" power up.

  • I updated the client installation. Some packages updated but not Firefox. The only network related ones where dnsmasq and wpa_supplicant... "should" not be related.

  • I had an old web page "logged in" on my FreeNas server.

  • Proceeded to update my FreeNAS server (probably had to log in again not sure)

  • Checked out server after update everything seemed fine

  • Later i needed to check out naming of windows shares and that's when I found the problem

  • Took screen shot

  • Cleaned site data

  • Checked again everything ok

  • Took new screen shot

  • Filed report

 

I hope this can give you some ideas...
