I see these are actually SATA DOM. The ones we ship in our enterprise products have their average error count (which is correlated with expected lifetime left) in SMART attribute 164. I don't see these reporting this attribute. You should probably refer to their manual, maybe some of these unknown SMART attributes actually mean something.

I am closing this issue as we don't have plans to support monitoring every SATA DOM available on the market until their SMART reporting is standardized. UI bugs were reported separately and will be fixed in 12.0-U3.

Run smartctl -a /dev/ada5 in the shell

I see these specific models are pretty bad at reporting their health through SMART.

How do we test their health? IF they are SSD's they should still have a way to interrogate them to see if they are piling up errors.

what do you mean by testing them? From SMART point of view they are fine, there would be an alert otherwise. SMART self-tests are not supported (this is a common thing for SSDs).

So, my question now is, how do we test those two drives? I have a sneaking suspicion that we have a problem on one of them, and since there are no "lights" to see if there is a known error, we do not know how to test them to see their health.
