Not reporting HDD temperature if used standby mode

Description

HDD temperature in Dashboard / Report is shown only if HDD is set to not go on standby mode.

Any other case, temperature is reported as null.

Even activated standby for HDD and no network activity (no cable connected to server), disks are not going to standby.

Report is preatty poor, shown really few information comparing to XigmaNAS and this sytems shows temperature regardless if used standby or not.

We dont have a list. Thats experience from numerous tickets people filed over the years.

 

Simply checking if a disk is running or not may cause it to run if it wasn't. Yes, its weird like that with some models/vendors.

Could you please say which disks are not reporting correctly temperature if they are spin down? It would be helpful to people that to buy depending of their needs.

 

But answer if from my point of view quite strange... it would be better to know temperature and status of disk (if it is spin down or if running, than status could show disk runing and temperature...

I see.

 

The behavior is undefined and there are a lot of disks that do not spindown if we are reading temperatures. To make things easier and avoid problems we simply do not report temperatures for any disks set to standby.

I do not know how it was designed.

The point is if HDD is set to go to standby (even if it does not work) the True NAS does not show current temperature on the Report interface.

 

If standby is not active, it works.

 

I am used to have temperature and status of disk in any mode *spinning or not spinning, either standby or not standby (such in XigmaNAS).

This is why I believe it is not correct, or it is bug.

Why is this a bug? This seems to be behaving as designed. Please be more verbose.

Configure
