How I reproduce it:
Reboot the server
Unlock locked datasets
Stop SMB service
Start SMB service
Mount shares (macOS Ventura in my case but not limited to)
Core dump file smbd.core is in /var/db/system/cores
I checked the content of /var/db/system/cores before and after every step above.
I’m rolling back to U4. EDIT: Just tested it with U4, the above procedure works fine, able to mount and access shares. Including initially locked ones.

Very long story, filed a number of tickets before, and now, SMBD dumps core.
That’s new.
The reason is most likely shares that use locked datasets.
Filing this ticket per message in alerts. smbd.core.tgz and debug info files attached.
