Unable to Auto-Add accounts from Active Directory

Description

Description~
TrueNAS fails to automatically add users from active directory to Accounts groups and users list.

OS Version:
TrueNAS-13.0-U5.3

Model:
OptiPlex 3080 (256GB Sandisk SSD Plus)

Memory:
8 GiB

Steps~

~Install TrueNAS-13.0
~Set up DNS globally (Network -> Global Configuration)
~Set up TrueNAS user in AD server; this is with "domain admin" membership.
~Set up AD (Directory Services -> Active Directory) (More information here: https://www.truenas.com/docs/core/coretutorials/directoryservices/activedirectory/)
~Even after rebuilding, my users and groups do not appear.
~I have scoured the internet for AD commands in TrueNAS, only to find that they all work; This is where others have noted commands failing to return any results for groups, or user lists on Active Directory within their realm (domain).
~I have tried reformatting the entire image and started the process from scratch to eliminate any errors in-between, but I still come up short.

I appreciate any time spent here helping with this problem.

Thank you,

Kevin

These wont populate from AD, however they should be listed in anywhere in the UI where you can select an AD user, e.g. Change Permission/ACL screen.

In the Web UI.

Accounts → Groups

Accounts -> Users

Is there another place for them to populate? I intend to have access restrictions based on users and groups to SMB shares. Perhaps I am looking in the wrong place?

Sorry, you did not answer my questions.

Automatically populate where?

Kevin Kessler October 17, 2023 at 8:48 PM

Sorry, I mean to set up SMB shares. This will be restricted based on users and groups within TrueNAS. Instead of adding over 55 people manually I figure Active Directory has the information there already with my users and groups that should automatically populate.

When you mean add users to account groups and users list. What do you mean exactly?

You mean selecting them in the Change Permissions forms or are you expecting them to see listed in the UI?
