Stuck with Initializing Apps Service

Description

Pretext: TrueNAS Scale 22.12.4.2 Upgraded to 23.10.0

Symptoms: The App Service will be stuck at initialising stage

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Unset any pool in App Service

  2. Choose a pool without ‘ix-applications’ dataset to start from scratch with the following prerequisites

    1. For the pool, the root dataset of pool should be encrypted similar to this layout:

  3. Once ready, install any apps, such as qBittorrent as an example

  4. Reboot your server

  5. The App Service will be stuck at “Initilializing App Services”

Observations:

  • App Services runs correctly when starting from scratch, however the symptom returns when TrueNAS restarts.

  • When TrueNAS restarts, odd behaviour of a new “directory” of the pool/”ix-applications” dataset appended with a timestamp at the rear will be generated, with the following screenshots as examples

I can confirm that after upgrading to 23.10.0.1 everything works. Thank you very much!
