Critical Failed to start docker for Applications: Docker service could not be started

Description

Every time I try to access the GUI, the application view appears broken, and I get the message:
“Applications are not running.” Additionally, the alert screen displays the following message:
“Critical: Failed to start docker for Applications: Docker service could not be started.”

I’ve tried several solutions, but the problem persists. This issue has never occurred in previous versions of TrueNAS, and I’ve been using the platform for many years.

In the Terminal Shell, when I run the command service docker status, it shows that Docker is running normally. Furthermore, I can access all the applications directly via IP/Port without any issues. However, the user interface keeps displaying that Docker is not running.

I cannot use unset / set pool because i get an error messaje pool is busy

Unfortunately we don’t have the time or resources to investigate issues like this. We’ve had around ~16k 24.10.2 installs in the wild and we’ve not had any reports of this particular problem. In almost every scenario like this, it’s related to a bad app or bad config or slow zpools.

This rings especially true for someone like ‘s screenshot. The fact that docker is stuck in activating tells me that there is some app causing an increased amount of time to start-up.

Also…restarting the docker service from underneath the truenas server application isn’t necessary and you’re only hurting our ability to troubleshoot anything really. I would recommend you all reach out to our forums to see if someone else had a similar issue and if they were able to find out what caused it. I usually start with disabling apps and isolate them there.

The issue persists even after update to ElectricEel-24.10.2

Will add, after restarting the docker service all applications are accessible EXCEPT through the truenas webui.

Get the same issue, but docker is stuck activating on my end. I’ve had the issue since updating to 24.10.1
