It has been about a week since I first upgraded to Electric Eel (I am now on 25.04-RC.1 Fangtooth) and ever since that upgrade, GPU passthrough has not worked properly.
I first had an Nvidia RTX 2060 which kind of worked after implementing the suggested fix by editing the user_config.yaml file in /mnt/.ix-apps to include specifics for the GPU (use_gpu: was set to true):
This solved the issue to a degree. However, unlike before upgrading to Electric Eel, Plex wouldn’t transcode videos to certain devices. It wouldn’t work on my Windows computer, or my Android phone, but worked fine on iOS and my Nvidia Shield.
I figured this was an Nvidia issue, and so since I had an Intel ARC B580 on hand, I tried installing that. I’ve been meaning to upgrade it for a while anyway.
First I disabled the option for Nvidia drivers in the App setting tab, then removed the text I had added in the screenshot above in the user_config.yaml file, and then I installed the GPU, rebooted and hoped it would work.
Like before I edited the user_config.yaml file for my Nvidia GPU, I’m getting an identical error as before, if I recall correctly (.txt attached):
I have tried reinstalling the Plex app, tried Jellyfin and now tried upgrading to 25.04-RC.1 Fangtooth to no avail. The screenshot and .txt attached are from attempting to install Jellyfin on 25.04-RC.1 Fangtooth.
