Right Column:

• Don’t show categories that haven’t been added yet.

• Provide separation or grouping for other vdev categories.

• We have place for primer on what pools and datasets are. We could add a brief sentence or two and link to docs hub with some simple place explaining basic zfs entities.

• And / or we could use approach where we show context dependent help like we do in apps/instances wizards.

Left column:

• Lose background like in apps wizard.

Each Step:

• Don’t show Automated / Advanced options until Layout has been selected.

• Rename Layout to Redundancy level?

• Ideally we need a different selector for Layout, but I’ll create a separate ticket for it.

• Automated Disk Selection sounds intimidating. Rename to Describe Your Vdev.

• Rename Manual selection to Inspect your Vdev.

• Disk Size label can be Select Disks To Use.

• Treat Disk Size as Minimum can be Also use larger disks.

  • This option should not be shown at all if all disks are of the same size.

  • This option should be disabled if selected disk size is the largest disk.

• Width and Number of Vdevs could be combined on the same line and they could say something like: [5 vdevs v] [3 disks wide v].

• We need to provide explanation about what these options are. At the very lease Width needs to be renamed and there should be tooltips.

Between Step Actions:

• Probably no point in having Reset Step button on Data step.

• Optional vdev types should be hidden. There should be a Add Other Vdev Types dropdown button. This should be a rich menu explaining what each step does.
